Chair
Darren Shapland

Darren has unparalleled experience in the retail sector. He is Chair of Topps Tiles and Moo Print. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Ferguson and Chair of their audit committee. He previously served as Chair of Sainsbury's Bank, Poundland Group and Maplin Electronics, and was Non-Executive Director of Ladbrokes. Darren was Chief Financial Officer of Sainsbury's from 2005 before being appointed Group Development Director in 2011.

Founder & Technical Director
Paul McAndrew

Paul is the founder of Aerofoil Energy and pioneered aerofoil technology for the refrigeration industry. He is a display-refrigeration specialist with over 20 years of experience in the commercial sector, including as Business Development Director of Norpe UK. Over the past 15 years Paul has launched several UK start-ups in the refrigeration and technology sectors and co-founded a distributed computing platform.

Nicholas Burke
Managing Director

Nicholas was one of the original angel investors in Aerofoil Energy and arranged follow-on equity rounds to fund the company’s development and growth. He has a background in investment banking, consulting and project finance. He previously headed up the project evaluation work of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), and has advised many Multilateral Development Banks on investment evaluation.

Non-Executive Director
Dean Frost

Dean is a retail refrigeration specialist with 25 years' experience in the UK and international food retail sector. He is the current Managing Director of A1 Engineering Solutions and former Managing Director of Space Engineering Services. Dean has advised and supported some of the world's largest food retailers with product innovation and selection, whilst working with some of the country's leading refrigeration contracting businesses.

Claire Alkaya
Operations Manager

Claire joined Aerofoil Energy in 2018 and coordinates our manufacturing, product and supply logistics, as well as managing our intellectual property portfolio. Previously, Claire worked in a senior support role in the aerospace industry.
